Michael's topics of discussion typically focus on the areas of aviation, excess and surplus lines, and property insurance.

Among his published works are Limitations on Governmental Liability in Minnesota Law, Minnesota Defense (1986); The Heat's On After the Fire: To Rebuild or Not To Rebuild - The Big Question for Fire Insurers, The Brief (1987); and Priorities of Coverage, Minnesota Insurance Law Deskbook.

Michael holds a Martindale-Hubbell AV rating, and in several consecutive years has been voted a Minnesota Super Lawyer, chosen from the top five percent of attorneys practicing in Minnesota.
